Fire safety poster contest winners receive surprise visit at Oak View Elementary School

Shannon Burton from the Maple Grove Fire Department came to visit Oak View Elementary School fourth grade students Dec. 18, and he surprised the school’s winners of this year’s fire safety poster contest. 

Judged by a team of 15 Maple Grove firefighters, the poster entries were given points for originality, artistry, creativity, incorporation of theme and widespread use of color. Winners included Charli Johnson, Claire Musburger and Yahanatou Toure. First place winner, Claire, said she carries on a winning tradition in the fire safety poster contest, with her older sister also winning the contest during her fourth grade year.
